SAFEEN Subsea, a part of AD Ports Group’s (AD Ports) Maritime & Shipping Cluster, has launched the ‘SAFEEN Green’, a remotely operated unmanned vessel (USV).
SAFEEN Green can reportedly operate up to 200 nautical miles offshore, gathering high-quality geophysical and hydrographic data with little environmental effect.
This vessel is operated from an onshore Remote Operation Centre (ROC), which employs modern navigation and safety technology to ensure continuous and secure operations.
SAFEEN Green operates on 100 per cent renewable electric power or biofuel, emitting 10 per cent of the emissions of a regular vessel, ensuring a drastically reduced carbon footprint.

Its autonomous operation improves safety by removing dangers, while two autopilots, redundant HD cameras, and sophisticated monitoring systems ensure safe and efficient operations.
AD Ports noted that its payload choices and fuel economy provide cost-effectiveness without sacrificing performance.
Captain Ammar Al Shaiba, CEO of the Maritime & Shipping Cluster, AD Ports Group, said: “By integrating advanced remote operations and zero-emission capabilities, we are setting new standards for the maritime industry, encompassing safety and efficiency while remaining competitive and contributing to a greener future.”

Tareq Abdulla Al Marzooqi, CEO of SAFEEN Subsea, part of AD Ports Group, emphasised: “With its ability to operate independently for extended periods and perform a wide range of subsea tasks, SAFEEN Green is poised to become an invaluable asset for offshore EPC projects in the region.”
Before being deployed in the UAE, SAFEEN Green underwent thorough testing in the North Sea.
The vessel’s operating versatility enables it to service a variety of industries, including oil and gas, wind farms, and deep-sea minerals while providing creative and cost-effective solutions.
In September, AD Ports reported a 30 per cent increase in car traffic through Autoterminal Khalifa Port in the first half of 2024.
