Boxship damaged after collision in Texas waters

A cargo ship has collided with Croatian bulk carrier AP Revelin in Port Arthur waters (Texas), leaving both vessels damaged.

According to the US Coast Guard, the crash occurred on 21 August in the Sabine Pass, a shipping lane along the Texas-Louisiana border leading between Port Arthur and the Gulf of Mexico.

The general cargo ship Damgracht was inbound from Italy transporting a cargo of cement to Immingham, while AP Revelin was bound from Port Arthur.

The vessels collided in the shipping channel during inbound manoeuvre. The bow of the cargo ship and the bulk carrier reportedly suffered significant damage.

There have been no reports of injury amongst crew members on either vessel, and no pollution in the waterway.

AP Revelin was left at the port and anchored to undergo inspection and estimate damages.
