China’s Rizhao Port hits ground running for 2022

Rizhao Port in East China’s Shandong Province has increased its container volumes by more than a fifth since the beginning of 2022.

From 1 January to 24 January, state media Xinhua reported that Rizhao Port, of Shandong Port Group, has completed 340,000 TEU – a year-on-year increase of 21.4 per cent.

Volume of international freight trains has skyrocketed, increasing by 81.5 per cent year-on-year.

The Port of Rizhao ranked ninth in PTI’s Top 10 Chinese Ports for 2021: the deep-water seaport on the coast of the city of Rizhao experienced an 8 per cent increase year-on-year in container throughput in the first ten months of 2021.

Rizhao Port began operation in 1986, including two port areas including Shijiu Port Area and Lanshan Port Area.
