COSCO SHIPPING’s 400,000 DWT ore carrier ‘YUAN YI HAI’ has completed unloading in the Chinese Port of Qingdao, breaking a world record for iron ore unloading.

In addition, the operation set three new marks for single-ship operations.

COSCO SHIPPING Bulk partnered with the Port of Qingdao to design a plan to speed the unloading process in order to meet the needs of clients.

It also sent representatives from its Beijing division to Qingdao to collaborate with the ore transporter on the ground.

Prior to the arrival of the ship, corporate officials in the port held extensive conversations with port authorities and the client.

They conducted research to build a preemptive action plan while collaborating with the ship and dispatchers to complete appropriate cargo unloading preparations at the port.

Following the arrival of YUAN YI HAI, a group of professionals stayed at the forefront of the operation, working day and night to guarantee that all duties were completed efficiently.

After a 30.7 hour operation, YUAN YI HAI successfully discharged 375,500 tonnes of cargo, setting a new world record for iron ore discharge.

This month, COSCO Shipping Corporation established a collaboration with the domestic agriculture and food products processing firm Yihai Kerry for the development of industry supply chains.
