Daniamant launches navigation tool
Daniamant has announced its latest Forward-Looking Sonar (FLS) development, the FLS 3D–30 Degrees, a sonar technology offering enhanced visibility and safety at sea.

The FLS 3D–30 Degrees from Daniamant features a streamlined, single-transducer design, offering a real-time, 3D view of the seabed to improve depth visibility and situational awareness in uncharted or shallow waters.

With a 30-degree horizontal and 90-degree vertical scan, it delivers a forward range of up to 200 metres and 100 metres in depth, supported by a 20x depth-to-range ratio for enhanced underwater awareness.

A key feature is Average Forward Depth (AFD), which calculates the average depth ahead to improve navigation safety and reduce the risk of grounding in poorly mapped areas.

The system integrates with Raymarine Axiom Displays via Raynet, supporting split-screen use with nautical charts and sonar in the EchoPilot app. Users can rotate the sonar image 360 degrees, zoom in for detail, and switch between 3D and side-view modes.

The FLS 3D–30 Degrees is also compatible with third-party displays via HDMI and VGA output, offering flexible installation across various vessel setups.

Designed for boats 29–60 feet, the system provides an advanced sonar solution aimed at improving navigation efficiency and marine safety.

Kevin Rough, Daniamant CEO, comments, “We designed the FLS 3D – 30 Degrees in response to customer feedback and evolving market needs, demanding a high-quality FLS system for a broader audience of boat owners and captains, at an accessible price point.

“This latest development represents a major leap forward in high-performance sonar technology for navigation safety at sea, designed with world-leading FLS coverage to provide captains, crew and boat owners alike with the tools they need to navigate confidently, even in the most challenging waters.”

This time last year, Wärtsilä ANCS, part of Wärtsilä, introduced the NACOS Platinum Solid State X-Band Radar, a new radar system designed to improve maritime navigation safety and reliability.
