Logistics specialists DHL has released a new video demonstrating how its partnership with BMW will help instill blockchain as a pivotal feature of the global supply chain.

According to the video, the two companies’ “like-minded approach” make them ideal partners to work on a proof-of-concept for private blockchain technology.

The collaboration is centered on BMW and DHL’s partnership in the Asia-Pacific region, the main hub for digital technology innovation.

DHL supports BMW throughout the supply chain, from pre-production to dealership and end-user delivery.

Whereas each organization had its own systems which required manual reconciliations to match up to shipment data and human intervention in the case of delay or breakdown, a private blockchain platform allows for easy transfer of data.

Access is restricted so each partner can see the information they need, and touchpoints between the organizations are automatically connected with real-time visibility from the time of order to final delivery.

This, according to DHL, increases efficiency and makes the lives of ordinary consumers better.
