DP World Santos has joined the Portchain Connect network in order to improve the quality and timeliness of its berth alignment through digital handshakes and secure data sharing.
Portchain Connect aims to accelerate the transmission of schedule data, reducing the time required to synchronise the berthing window.
The technology enables terminals and carriers to send and receive high-quality data while reducing information transmission latency.

Portchain Connect reportedly gives users an easy-to-understand overview of all their vessel calls and assures that they may securely transfer berthing information, eliminate the expenses associated with manual non-digitised communication, and align on berthing windows to increase schedule dependability.
Thor Thorup, CCO and Co-Founder at Portchain, said: “We are excited to work with DP World Santos and help them drive efficiencies in their berth alignment process by facilitating streamlined data exchange with their shipping line customers.
“We look forward to continuing our collaboration and continuously improving the platform based on user feedback.”
In March 2023, DP World announced a $38 million investment to modernise and expand its facilities located on the left bank of the Port of Santos, Brazil.
Two months later, DP World planned to accelerate its adoption of renewable energy at the Port of Santos as a step in its global strategy to achieve carbon neutrality.
