The DP World-operated International Container Transhipment Terminal at Vallarpadam, Cochin has been persistent to maintain its growth trajectory.
In August, 2016 the terminal handled more than 43,000 TEU, a 20% improvement on the volume handled in August, 2015.
These figures indicate a remarkable growth in the terminal’s performance showcasing the increase in trade from South India.
The terminal showcased the best truck turnaround time in the country of 25 minutes along with more than 30 crane moves per hour, making it the most efficient terminal in South India.
Improvement in productivity, new services, and a high number of vessels handled add to the faith gained from the EXIM, along with immense customer confidence.
Increasing its connectivity with the neighbouring ports, ICTT hosts a well-established network wherein 10 feeder services and six mainline services connect the terminal with other ports.
On average the terminals dock more than 60 vessels in a month. With the longest rail bridge in India spanning 4.62 kilometres, the terminal has direct rail connectivity to influential markets such as Coimbatore, Bengaluru, Chennai, Hyderabad, Nagpur and Delhi.
