Cross-border trade company Dubai Trade has signed an agreement with Ports, Customs & Free Zone Corporation’s PCFC Security to automate all processes and create a gate pass management process for visitors to Jebel Ali Free Zone (Jafza) and the Ports of Jebel Ali, Hamriya, and Rashid, according to Arabian Supply Chain.
The move is in line with the Dubai government’s vision to become a Smart City.
The agreement was signed by Mahmood Al Bastaki, CEO of Dubai Trade and Mahmood Amin, CEO of PCFC Security in the presence of senior officials on the sidelines of Gitex Technology Week 2015.
Mahmood Al Bastaki said: “Our ports and free zones are the lifeblood of trade in Dubai and it is only natural that after automating the entry and exit of goods and services in Dubai we should now focus on supporting the visitors in the same way.
“Although visitors to Jafza and Dubai ports did have some automated processes in the past, they wanted a complete end-to-end seamless experience that would offer convenience. At the same time, our partners at PCFC Security needed to ensure security and integration of their services.
“The new system will offer multi-channel accessibility through the internet mobiles and integrate with the back-office systems of DP World, Jafza and other entities.”
Mahmood Amin concluded: “We partnered with them [Dubai Trade] after conducting an in-depth study and realised that they have the best potential even when compared to other global providers in providing process transformation and improvements to create seamless gate pass management.”
