Floridian ports begin reopening after coast battered by Hurricane Nicole

Florida’s ports have slowly restarted operations following a Category 1 Hurricane Nicole hitting the state’s coastline.

Nicole, which made landfall on 9 November evening, has knocked power out from more than 300,000 homes and businesses across the state.

Port Tampa Bay reopened to traffic on Thursday 10 November.

Port of Palm Beach reopened for landside operations at 8.00 am on 10 November. Safety inspections of the channel need to be conducted before the resumption of vessel traffic.

JAXPORT gates reopened to JAXPORT tenants at 6:30 am on Friday 11 November.

Port Everglades, PortMiami largely remained unaffected and quickly resumed operations.

In October supply chains in the Southeast US were severely impacted by Hurricane Ian making landfall.
