Freeport East, ITES join forces to drive green transport growth

Freeport East has announced a strategic partnership with Innovating for Transport and Energy Systems (ITES) to advance innovation in clean transport technologies and boost bilateral trade.

The collaboration with ITES – a programme led by UK energy innovation experts, Energy Systems Catapult with the Indian Institute of Science – aims to transform green transport solutions and attract significant private-sector investment.

ITES focuses on advancing technologies, business models, and infrastructures, including alternative fuels, battery storage, green hydrogen, and electric charging methods.

The collaboration with Freeport East aims to leverage its net-zero mandate with ITES’ international partnerships to create scalable public-private collaboration models and encourage industry and public bodies to co-develop transport decarbonisation projects and enhance trade between India and the UK.

Steve Beel, CEO of Freeport East, remarked: “We are delighted to be working with the Energy Systems Catapult and the Indian Institute of Science as part of the ITES programme.

“India is one of the world’s most exciting markets for innovation and offers significant opportunities for UK businesses to export their products and services. This agreement will help us support UK and India objectives whilst building mutual growth and trade opportunities in green transport.”

Earlier last month, Lloyd’s Register (LR) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with H2Terminals Limited to investigate the viability of a green hydrogen (H2) infrastructure project in the UK.
