Hapag-Lloyd announces congestion surcharge at Port of Mersin

Hapag Lloyd has announced that a congestion surcharge (CGD) for containers is coming into effect for the Port of Mersin, Türkiye.

Hapag-Lloyd will be implementing a surcharge of $150 per TEU and $300 per FEU for dry and reefer containers.

The surcharge will come into effect from 17 July and will cover the following locations:

  • From the Middle East and Indian Subcontinent to Mersin, Türkiye
  • From the Far East to Mersin, Türkiye

The Middle East and Indian Subcontinent covers the United Arab Emirates (UAE), Iraq, Saudi Arabia, Oman, Kuwait, Jordan, Qatar, Bahrain, India, Bangladesh, Pakistan, Sri Lanka

The Far East coverage comprises Brunei, China, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Japan, Cambodia, Korea, Myanmar, Macau, Malaysia, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, Taiwan, Vietnam.

In June, the 20,000 TEU boxship ‘Al Zubara’ was the first Hapag-Lloyd-owned vessel to stop at the Container Terminal Wilhelmshaven (CTW) in the FE2 service.

More recently, Hapag-Lloyd increased its tariff rates for shipping routes between Pakistan, India, and Bangladesh, and destinations in North and South Europe
