IAPH appoints new legal counsellor
The International Association of Ports and Harbors (IAPH) has appointed Vineta Rudzīte as its legal counsellor.

Rudzite is the legal and administrative assistant to the CEO of the Freeport of Riga Authority.

She replaces her former colleague and Deputy CEO, Mārtiņš Ziemanis, who has been appointed as Managing Director of Stena Line Ports Ventspils AS and was IAPH’s legal counsellor since May 2019.

She has substantial expertise in the transport business, having worked for the State Joint Stock Company Latvian Railways for nine years, including as Deputy Director of the Legal Department.

Her legal experience includes past positions at Lattelecom and Latvian Shipping Company, as well as administrative work with the Republic of Latvia’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Vineta has been at the Freeport of Riga Authority since 2021, where she is responsible for legal and administrative assistance to the CEO, risk management, and ISO standard implementation.

IAPH Managing Director, Patrick Verhoeven, said: “We are very thankful for Mārtiņš’ contribution to IAPH over the last six years of tenure and wish him well in his new role in shipping. We welcome Vineta to the IAPH Council and look forward to her advice and support as the association’s legal counsellor.”

In November 2024, the General Assembly of the European Sea Ports Organisation (ESPO) unanimously elected Ansis Zeltiņš, the Freeport of Riga CEO, as the new ESPO Chair at its annual meeting.
