An infographic released by Drewry Shipping Consultants’ container forecaster shows the number of ships in the world’s largest shipping lines’ portfolio, as well as who has the biggest ships on order.
Container line OOCL recently broke the record for the largest containership after ordering six 21,150 TEU vessels.
The infographic shows that, despite OOCL having the largest ships on order, its current fleet size is much smaller in comparison to Maersk Line, who currently have around twenty 20,000 TEU ships in its fleet.
Hapag-Lloyd has ordered five 10,500 TEU ships, in a move that was made to coincide with the on-going Panama Canal Expansion.
