Kalmar, part of Cargotec, has concluded a deal with St. van den Brink, a logistics service provider in the Netherlands, to supply the company with four Kalmar T2 terminal tractors.

The Kalmar T2 terminal tractors will support the company in transporting chilled, frozen and bulk goods by shunting trailers along the two-kilometre route between the Ahold distribution centre and the Kuehne + Nagel distribution centre in Zaandam.

St. van den Brink’s Kalmar T2 terminal tractors will also be equipped with Volvo Tier4F engines that meet the EU's strictest Stage four emissions standards as well as double fuel tanks to reduce operational downtime.

The family-owned logistics operator has a Lean and Green Star by the Climate Neutral Group after cutting its CO2 emissions by 20%.

Its order was booked in Cargotec's Q1 2018 order intake with delivery scheduled to take place in the early part of Q3 2018.

Sander Jansen, Fleet Manager, St. van den Brink, said: “We have developed an excellent and trusting working relationship with Kalmar in recent years.

“The T2 terminal tractor's efficient and low-emission power train was a natural choice given our commitment to being a responsible and sustainable business.

“The new vehicles offer excellent reliability and will be important in helping us to reduce turnaround times and increase our haulage volumes.”

John Schut, Sales Manager, Mobile Equipment, Kalmar Netherlands, commented: “The T2 delivers the flexibility and choice that our customers around the world need from a terminal tractor, while helping them to reduce running costs.

“It's designed to cope with the toughest working conditions, but it also helps operators increase productivity by providing a safe and comfortable working environment for drivers.

“Our ability to offer a power train that complied with the EU's strictest emissions standards was an important factor for St. van den Brink.”
