Maersk opens new Pakistan warehousing facility

A.P. Moller – Maersk (Maersk) has inaugurated its new Integrated Logistics Park at Port Qasim, Pakistan.

With six purpose-built sheds, the new facility makes Maersk the country’s largest logistics and warehousing provider, with a total footprint of more than 1.3 million square feet across seven cities.

The 560,000 square feet Integrated Logistics Park will act as a warehouse, including a consolidation and fulfilment centre and cold storage.

This facility will cater to storage requirements of cargo from retail & lifestyle, Fast Moving Consumer Goods (FMCG), automotive and technology sectors.

It comes equipped with modern Warehouse Management Systems.

Maersk has made the investment building on increasing demand for enhanced integrated logistics solutions originated from strained global supply chains.

“With our state-of-the-art Integrated Logistics Park, we want to ensure that we play an important role in connecting and simplifying the supply chains for importers, exporters and traders of Pakistan.”

Maersk and IBM just announced the decision to withdraw the TradeLens offerings and discontinue the platform.

The move has been cited as TradeLens “has not reached the level of commercial viability” to continue work on the platform.
