Manila International Container Terminal (MICT), International Container Terminal Service, Inc.’s (ICTSI) main terminal, has welcomed its first LNG-powered cargo vessel, CMA CGM Passion.
The 7,327 TEU CMA CGM Passion is operated by CNC’s KCS service, which provides direct sailings between South China and the Philippines.
This weekly service links major ports in China, Indonesia, and the Philippines, such as Xingang, Dalian, Lianyungang, Qingdao, Singapore, Jakarta, Surabaya, and Manila.

According to ICTSI, it also has one of the quickest passage times from Qingdao to Singapore and Indonesia.
The CMA CGM Passion is also the largest capacity boxship handled by MICT to date.
Christian Lozano, MICT Chief Operating Officer, said: “This landmark call reinforces our efforts to reduce the environmental impact of MICT’s operations, which include investing in hybrid rubber-tired gantries that require less fuel and generate cleaner emissions. We hope to handle more green ships as the industry moves towards decarbonisation.”
In March, MICT reached another milestone by processing its 50 millionth TEU.
