MSC launches direct Africa-Far East hinterland connection

MSC is launching a new direct call at the Port of Abidjan on its Africa Express line serving the market between Asia and Ivory Coast.

The carrier said this new call will enable to exchange directly and quickly between China, South Korea, Japan, Southeast Asia and Ivory Coast and the nearby hinterland.

The new service offers road and rail connections with the hinterland, with logistics solutions including more than 40,000 square metres of depots with 10 dedicated lifting equipment; 200 trucks and 400 trailers; and 25 Box loaders.

The first direct call to Abidjan will be on 7 November with the MSC ALIYA.

On 10 October, the MSC-flagged containership Malena suffered an engine failure in front of Canakkale, in the Turkish Dardanelles Strait.

The 2,503 TEU vessel was heading to Italy from Tekirdağ, Turkey.
