MSC vessel breaks record for largest cargo capacity

The MSC Marie has become the largest capacity Neopanamax to cross the Panama Canal.

With a length of 366 metres (1,200 feet) and a width of 51 metres (167.4 feet), the MSC Marie has a maximum capacity of 17,640 TEU, setting a new record.

This achievement surpasses the previous record set by the Ever Max vessel, which made the journey with a capacity of 17,312 TEU on its debut passage in August 2023.

Last month, the Panama Canal Authority announced the introduction of a Long-Term Slot Allocation (LoTSA) Method for Neopanamax vessels.

More recently, the canal authority modified its Transit Reservation System tariffs as part of the Complementary Maritime Services tariffs.
