The Northwest Seaport Alliance (NWSA) has announced a 12.7 per cent increase in container volumes to 264,726 TEU for July.
Full overseas exports fell 1.7 per cent, snapping a 10-month increase run, while full international imports increased 24.4 per cent, and total international volumes increased 29.5 per cent compared with July 2023.
Year-to-date (YTD) volumes are up 11.7 per cent to 1.82 million TEU, with full imports up 19 per cent and full exports up 13.4 per cent.
NWSA finished first in the West Coast Ports category in Logistics Management’s Quest for Quality Awards for the second year in a row and highest in three of five categories: Ease of Doing Business (second year in a row), Value (second year in a row), and Intermodal Network.
The port authority revealed that domestic container shipments are steady YTD 2024 compared to YTD 2023. Alaska sales rose 1.5 per cent, while Hawaii volumes fell 7.9 per cent.
In July, NWSA announced that its Terminal 5 (T5) refrigerated container will undergo electrical upgrades.
