Port of Hamburg appoints new Marketing Representative in its Germany East office

The Hamburg Port Authority (HPA) has appointed Roman Fürtig as its new Head of Port of Hamburg Marketing’s Representative Office Germany East.

Hailing from Mecklenburg, Roman Fürtig will be stationed in Berlin, overseeing the market dynamics in eastern Germany. He becomes the primary contact for members and businesses in this region.

Fürtig will use Berlin as a strategic base to share full information on the Port of Hamburg with federal legislative leaders.

Axel Mattern, a member of the Port of Hamburg Marketing Board, stated: “We eagerly anticipate collaborating with Roman Fürtig, confident that his expertise and dedication will significantly contribute to advancing the Port of Hamburg’s presence in eastern Germany. Antje Göhler will continue to provide support from our office in Dresden.”

Fürtig, 49, has two decades of experience working as a scientific advisor and office manager for Hamburg’s members in the German Bundestag.

In November 2023, the Crown Prince Haakon of Norway visited the Port of Hamburg and attended a tour of the port that focussed on sustainable logistics.

This month, HPA and Hamburger Energiewerke (HEnW) announced it is forming a joint venture to accelerate the Port of Hamburg’s decarbonisation.
