The Port of Los Angeles has named Stephanie Magnien Rockwell as its new Chief of Staff to the Executive Director.
Magnien Rockwell will oversee special projects, handle executive and administrative concerns, support executive-level personnel, and represent the Port to City of Los Angeles authorities and other stakeholders.
In this new role, she will also get direct reports from the Port’s Internal Audit Division.
The port’s Executive Director, Gene Seroka, said: “Stephanie brings a highly diversified set of skills and experience to this important position. With her proven track record of leadership and results, we’re thrilled to elevate her into this new role.”

Magnien Rockwell was most recently the Legislative Representative in the Workforce and Government Affairs Division at the Port of Los Angeles, where she acted as the Port’s connection with City Hall.
In that capacity, she was in charge of providing legislative, policy, and operational assistance across a wide range of Port objectives. She started at the Port in 2018 in the Contracts and Purchasing Division.
Magnien Rockwell began her profession by taking on increasing levels of responsibility for political leaders. These included the offices of California State Assembly Member Judy Chu (49th District), City Councilmember Jan Perry (9th District), and City Councilmember Bob Blumenfield (3rd District).
She had worked as Principal Project Coordinator for the Office of the City Administrative Officer in Los Angeles for two years before joining the port.
