Port of Oakland appoints new Director of Utilities
The Port of Oakland has appointed Andre Basler as the first to serve in the newly established role of Director of Utilities.

In his new role in Oakland, Basler will oversee the Utilities Division amid major infrastructure enhancements and the port’s move toward zero-emission operations.

Prior to joining the Port, Basler was the Assistant General Manager of Engineering and Operations at Alameda Municipal Power.

There, he managed all aspects of utility operations, including engineering, construction, maintenance, renewable energy, as well as safety and regulatory compliance.

Kristi McKenney, the port’s Executive Director, said: “Mr. Basler brings 25 years of experience in the energy and utilities industry to the port.

“His experience is essential to maintaining the Port of Oakland as a leader in clean energy and technology innovation.”

Port of Oakland Utilities Director, Andre Basler, stated: “I look forward to my journey with the port and working within its collaborative culture to support the port’s overall mission as an economic engine for the region.

“These are challenging times in the energy industry, and I’m excited to continue building out the port’s utility operations to provide safe, reliable, clean, and affordable power.”

Recently, ShibataFenderTeam announced that the Port of Oakland is undergoing a modernisation project to enhance infrastructure and reduce environmental impact. As part of these efforts, berths 55–59 are being upgraded at the port to accommodate ultra-large container vessels and shore power technology.
