Shore power is available at two Cruise Terminals at the Port of Southampton – Horizon and Mayflower – for any shore-power-enabled cruise ship.
Alastair Welch, ABP Southampton Regional Director, said: “We are incredibly proud to win this award. Implementing shore power is a collaborative approach working with several organisations to ensure the technology is installed and funded in a way that supports a sustainable and environmentally focused sector and port.”
In April 2022, Associated British Ports (ABP)’s Port of Southampton launched its shore power facility for cruise ships.
More recently, in January, DP World agreed to lease a 7,500 square metre site next to its Southampton container terminal to develop facilities for lorry drivers.
