Port of Valencia vehicle traffic decreases by 11.75 per cent

The Port Authority of Valencia’s (PAV) terminals handled the loading and unloading of 50,465 vehicles in October.

The figure stands 11.75 per cent lower than the traffic of automobiles as merchandise that moved in the same month last year.

The total number of cars handled from January to October was 480,441 (10.43 per cent fewer); year on year, 587,208 units were transported (9.48 per cent less).

Data from the APV Statistical Bulletin for the month of October show that in the first 10 months of the year, 2.74 million tonnes (Mt) of liquid bulk (-39 per cent); 2.36 Mt of solid bulk (+15.41 per cent); 13.26 Mt of non-containerised goods (+2.63 per cent); 49.37 Mt of containerised goods (+10.76 per cent); 1,484 tonnes of fishing (+47.34 per cent) and 395,575 tonnes of victualling (+10 per cent).

Overall, more than 68 million tonnes of commodities were produced, representing a 5.72 per cent increase over the first 10 months of the previous year.

In July, the port authority handled 461,121 TEU, a 5.64 per cent increase over the same month last year.

Two months later, PAV reported that its solar power-producing facilities have been operating at full capacity during the summer months.
