PTP breaks operational record

The Port of Tanjung Pelepas (PTP) has reached another operational landmark and broken its total monthly move record by processing 922,800 TEU in November 2020, in another sign of its technological growth and importance to regional trade.

The Port attributed the achievement to “efficient planning and execution of container operations”, as well as “good optimisation of resources”.

Furthermore, it said the “historic achievement” would not have been possible without the cooperation and joint effort of all parties and described it as a “statement of everyone’s continuous effort, dedication and hard work”.

It is the latest achievement by PTP, which in November 2020 broke the utilisation record for a Maersk vessel by logging 19,388 TEU on Munich Maersk, surpassing the record 19,344 TEU record set during the visit Murcia Maersk in July 2020.

As at the end of July it broke its productivity move record. That followed a series of port optimisation records as it received many of the biggest vessels in the world, such as the MSC Gulsun and the HMM Algeciras, currently the largest in the world.

Additionally, in April 2020 it recorded an all-time container terminal move record as it saw a total of 137,256 moves in a week, equivalent of 211,997 TEU.

PTP is one of the fastest growing and most technologically advanced ports in the world. In 2019 it launched plans to more than double its TEU capacity by 2030.,
