The Port of Santos has made its best yearly start ever for its container sector.
Container handling in both flows exceeded 2 million TEU, 0.4 per cent above the figure for the first five months of 2021 – the best mark in the port’s history for January to May 2022.
The share of the Port of Santos in the Brazilian trade flow was 29.4 per cent in May.
Around 32.6 per cent of domestic commercial transactions with foreign countries that passed through the Port of Santos in 2022 had China as a partner country.

São Paulo remains the state with the highest participation in foreign trade transactions through the Port of Santos, at 51.7 per cent.
Cargo handling at the Port of Santos in the first five months of the year reflected the good performance of Brazilian agribusiness and gave the period its best record: 66.5 million tons, up 5.5 per cent year-on-year.
The flow of vessels totaled 2,093 vessels, 3.0 per cent above the same period last year.
Last year, the port authority saw its net income amount to R$329.1 million ($66.9 million), up 62.6 per cent over its results for 2020.
