Samsung Heavy Industries’ (SHI) new Smart Ship Solution has been granted the ABS Certificate of CyberSafety Compliance for demonstrating adherence to the ABS Guide for Cybersecurity Implementation for the Marine and Offshore Industries.
SHI’s Smart Ship Solution looks to improve vessel efficiency using real time data provided by sensors on the hull and key equipment.
The new developments of real time data transfer between ship and shore facilities that enable automated operations create a pressing cybersecurity challenge for the industry, with new vulnerabilities and opportunities for unauthorised access.
Director of the Global ABS CyberSafety® program Paul R. Walters said: “SHI Smart Ship Solution was successfully tested and evaluated for compliance with the ABS Cybersecurity Guide.
