TT Club Innovation in Safety Award open for entries

TT Club, in partnership with ICHCA, has announced that entries are now open for the 2025 Innovation in Safety Award.

The awards recognise those making significant strides in improving safety within cargo transport.

With today’s freight industry facing numerous risks—from explosions and fires to accidents involving falls, crushing, and moving objects—there is a pressing need to develop better risk management strategies.

TT Club and ICHCA are urging the global freight industry to prioritise safety, using new technologies and expertise to manage risks. Improving safety protects lives, cargo, and infrastructure and enhances working conditions and long-term sustainability.

The awards aim to highlight innovative solutions that prevent both large-scale incidents and the less-publicised accidents that occur daily.

“The good news is that cargo handlers, carriers and the developers of technological devices and systems of all shapes and sizes are diligently producing innovations to improve risk control,” said TT Club’s MD Loss Prevention, Mike Yarwood.

“I’m pleased to say that working with ICHCA, our efforts in encouraging such innovation are having a positive effect. This Award plays a significant role in those efforts.”

Past winners have included a diverse range of companies, from cargo handling operators to technology specialists, such as Royal Haskoning DHV, G2 Ocean AS, and AP Moller Maersk for its APMT Vessel Inspection App.

Solutions have ranged from netting systems preventing falls to digital platforms for vessel inspections and technology improving container safety.

Richard Steele, CEO of ICHCA, added: “Our list of previous innovative ideas to increase the safe working of our industry is impressive. We are pleased to have had the opportunity to spotlight their passion and creativity for not just doing the right things right, but doing them better.”

“We urge all those who have made positive changes to the way they do safety either for themselves or for others to enter this year’s Award. The most exciting part is the sharing of knowledge and forward-thinking ideas that will make a difference now!”
