A video released by PierPass shows the process a trucker must go through when dropping off an empty container at a port and collecting an imported container at the ports of Los Angeles and Long Beach.

The driver must show that he is authorised to enter a terminal by showing his identification card. His truck will then be checked with an RFID scanner to confirm if the vehicle has been registered onto the clean truck database.

Once the truck has passed through main gate, it will then move to an entry pedestal, where the operating clerk must confirm if the container is ready to be moved.
