Wan Hai christens two smart ship vessels

Wan Hai Lines has held ship naming ceremonies for Wan Hai 375 and Wan Hai 377 at Japan Marine United Corporation TSU Shipyard.

Chao-Hon Chen, honorary chairman of Wan Hai Lines Ltd., Charles Chen, President of Wan Hai Lines Japan Ltd and Director of Wan Hai Lines Singapore PTE Ltd., and Nobuyuki Nada, President and CEO of Japan Marine United Corporation, officiated the event.

Tomomi Nakasone, wife of Yasutaka Nakasone, a member of the House of Representatives, and Chen-Keenan Leanne named these two vessels during the event.

Wan Hai Lines has bought a third batch of 3,055 TEU-class vessels from Japan Marine United Corporation, for a total of 12 vessels with Wan Hai 375 and Wan Hai 377 being the last two in the class.

According to Wan Hai, this series is equipped with new energy-saving equipment. It takes energy efficiency and environment-friendly aspects into account.

The company also revealed that all the ships are certified with ‘Smart Ship’ notations. These new smart vessels are part of Wan Hai’s efforts to upgrade its fleet.

In April, Wan Hai Lines Ltd. hosted ship naming ceremonies for Wan Hai 372 and Wan Hai 376.
