Wärtsilä Gas Solutions has announced it will provide the cargo handling system for a new fully pressurized LPG carrier for Meghna Fresh LPG, a subsidiary of the Bangladeshi Meghna Group.
The company is one of the country’s largest industrial conglomerates, and in addition to owning the new ship, it also owns the shipyard where it is being built and the energy businesses that will utilise it.
Wärtsilä got the deal in October 2024.
Wärtsilä’s scope for the entire cargo handling system is divided into three parts: engineering, materials, and supervision, commissioning, and gas trials.

The components to be delivered comprise the equipment on deck, LPG pipes, instrumentation, interface materials connecting the cargo tanks and hull, and the cargo control system. Wärtsilä will also provide on-site support at the shipyard throughout the vessel’s development.
Wärtsilä Gas Solutions has made four earlier projects with the Meghna Group of Industries.

Knut-Erik Heggem, Sales Manager, Wärtsilä Gas Solutions, said: “This latest order represents an endorsement of the continuous support, the quality of our product designs, and the functionality of the systems that Wärtsilä delivers.
“Bangladesh is a rapidly developing country, and we at Wärtsilä are honoured to contribute to this growth with our solutions.”
When delivered, this vessel will reportedly be able to operate on both interior rivers and deep-sea seas. As a result, the design has been tailored precisely to both uses.
The ship is scheduled to begin service in 2026.
