The video above shows the APL Austria container ship being saved after it was forced to dock in South Africa when a fire started on board.

The vessel made a distress call yesterday and had to be anchored in Algoa Bay. It was sprayed by three Transnet tugboats before being boarded by firefighters in the Port of Ngqura, which had to ensure that none of the hazardous material on board, including paint and gas, was going to cause an explosion.

Four people were evacuated from the ship, with one of them suffering minor injuries, reported the Herald Live. The fire is now under control. The cause is still unknown.

Last year, a Maersk container ship ceased operations near the Canary Islands on due to a fire.
