ZIM Integrated Shipping Services Ltd. has officially named three new LNG vessels in Korea and China.
The SHI Geoje shipyard in Korea held the naming ceremony for the ZIM Mount Elbrus and the ZIM Mount Vinson, the last additions to the series of 10 LNG carriers with a 15,000 TEU capacity.
These LNG vessels were given traditional names by their respective godmothers, Hani Kalinsky, EVP Pacific Business Unit, and Joey Chow, Senior Strategic Accounts Manager at ZIM.

These new vessels are planned to be deployed on ZIM Container Service Pacific (ZCP), ZIM’s flagship service connecting Asia and the East Coast of the US.
With the addition of these two vessels, the ZCP service will deploy exclusively LNG vessels. ZIM vessels are the first LNG vessels to call ports on the East Coast of the US.
The ZIM Pearl, the fifth vessel in a series of 15 advanced 7,700 TEU LNG vessels, was christened at the Jiangsu Yangzijiang shipyard in China by godmother Winnie Wing Han NG, wife of Seaspan President and CEO Bing Chen.

ZIM President and CEO, Eli Glickman, said: “The completion of the series of 10 15,000 TEU LNG vessels represents a significant milestone in our journey towards zero emissions, with the cleanest technology available on a large scale.
“Approximately one-third of our operational capacity will be powered by LNG once all 28 LNG green vessels join our fleet. ZIM is poised to solidify its position as an industry leader in sustainable shipping practices.”
In April 2023, ZIM launched its second and third 15,000 TEU LNG-powered vessels.
