ZIM secures long-term charters for 10 LNG vessels
ZIM Integrated Shipping Services Ltd. has announced long-term charters for 10 of its 11,500 TEU LNG dual-fuel container vessels, valued at approximately $2.3 billion.

Seven vessels will be chartered from Containers Ventures Holdings Inc., an affiliate of TMS Group, and three from a shipping company affiliated with Kenon Holdings, the largest shareholder of ZIM until 2024.

The vessels will be built at Zhoushan Changhong Shipyard in China, with delivery slated for 2027-2028.

Eli Glickman, ZIM President & CEO, said: “After having received all 46 newbuilds we contracted in 2021 and 2022, which significantly improved the efficiency of our operated capacity, we are pleased to further advance our fleet strategy by securing long-term charters for these 11,500 TEU newbuild LNG dual-fuel containerships.

“These agreements ensure access to an important vessel segment and further strengthen our core LNG fleet, which is a critical commercial differentiator. The addition of these 10 LNG dual-fuel vessels will help keep our modernised fleet competitive and support profitable growth over the long term, benefiting our shareholders.”

In March, ZIM reported its consolidated results for the three and 12 months ended 31 December 2024.

The company’s net income for the fourth quarter came at $563 million (compared to a net loss of $147 million in the fourth quarter of 2023), or diluted earnings per share of $4.664 (compared to a diluted loss per share of $1.23 in the fourth quarter of 2023).
